I, too, have eaten shrimp at an SCA event. As I remember it was shrimp in
a rice dish. That was seven or eight years ago.

Recently, there was a discussion on the Ansteorra list about a rather
modern sounding steak and shrimp feast. I think the assumption there was
that shrimp were not a medieval dish so most of the arguments concentrated
on the steak and the green beans.

I just looked in "Food and Drink in Britain" and lo, there are several
mentions of shrimp being eaten in medieval times. There are also a few
descriptions of how it was cooked. I will post these if anyone is
interested. Or if anyone has some specific period shrimp recipes I'd be
interested in seeing them.

There is one recipe (May's buttered shrimps mentioned above) in my
seafood-msg file.
