Another thought on the Ave Maria time.

I went to a Catholic High School which held a formal mass 1 -2 times per
term but we said the Hail Mary every morning.

I noticed that we said it a lot faster (10-12 seconds) in the mornings
than we did in the formal mass (about 25 seconds).  If you scale this up
to the whole ritual (20 mins I think someone said) then we could also
have a wider discrepancy there.

Meliora (no - I'm not Catholic - but they were the best schooling system
in outback NSW)
