Unless the idea of two cups per pint American is in fact some kind of Urban
Legend, I may have to do just that, although this is liquid measurement, not
dry. Or are we not doing level measurement here? Does surface tension allow
for a standard 8-ounce measuring cup to be overfilled with water by exactly
.33 ounce? And even if it does, one could argue that what doesn't fit into a
cup is not in the cup of liquid, and therefore not part of it. Maybe the
pouring lip of a measuring cup holds a third of an ounce? What???

Honestly not intending to pick nits here, but this one is entirely new to me!
