Well, he's as entitled to his opinion as anybody. I wish it were based
on an understanding of beer styles, rather than an ignorance of it, but
you can't have everything. Pils and Pilsator aren't the same thing by
any means, and if one has a preference for barley wine over pale ale,
they're likely to think Pilsator (which is a much heavier-gravity beer
brewed in a different season from ordinary Pils) is better than Pils. It
isn't better, just different. 

It also isn't very good to speak of what "everyone assumes". What he
assumes of me is wrong.

Ah, well, it is true that some hold the Rheinheitsgebot in some kind of
doctrinal regard. If it were something that ought to apply today, why
then repeal it?
