Stefan,

Be grateful that you are in Texas, because in Southern
California, it is illegal here to kill peafowl, since
several communities here have "adopted" the peacock
as their municipal symbols. I live very near Arcadia
California, which is one such community. They have
had peafowl living there for almost 100 years. They
were supposed to be contained within the Arboritum,
which is the former estate of the millionaire, "Lucky"
Baldwin. However, it has been long ago discovered
that
no one can keep peafowl in one location, unless you
keep them in a cage. Peafowl mostly keep with the
confines of the Arboritum, but not all and not all the
time. They can be found roaming all over the city
and sometimes in neighboring cities. And, yes, they
are very noisy birds, but not as noisy as the flock
of parrots that live and breed here in the San Gabriel
valley. I would rather hear one or two peacocks any
day than have to endure the sound of 100+ parrots.
And then there is the sound of 100+ parrots fighting
with 40+ crows at 5 am. ... aaarrrggghhh!!!
