Is true. Legal is a matter of opinion. The BATF said it wasn't, but given 
that this is an international list, your mileage may vary.

You got the process of freeze distillation down right.

On the subject of apple jack I'll say this. One of it's other names is 
"busthead" because of the hangover produced from imbibing it. This is because 
as you concentrate the alcohol, you are also concentrating the impurities 
present in it, the impurities in alcohol being what produces the hangover. At 
least in my limited experience this is so, as I know from experience burgundy 
coolers will hurt more than vodka shooters <G>.
