Plant it in  an 8 to 12 inch pot . Use regular potting soil. Lay the 
gingerroot hand  flat on the surface of the soil and work it down so the  top 
is flush with the surface of the soil much like you would plant an iris. 
Water when the surface of the soil drys out. Set the plant in a sunny 
location. It will make more roots as it gets larger and you might be rewarded 
with small yellow and red orchidlike flowers. When the pot breaks or  the 
plant pushes itself out of the contaner , repot into a larger pot. You will 
have fresh gimgerroot in a few months for the harvesting. :-)
