SC - Newbie with bread question

Greetings Fair Gentles,

I am new to the list and the signing up instructions suggested I send
you a blurb about me so here it is...

I have been in the SCA for about 5 years (Calontir, Barony of Forgotten
Sea). Cooking in general is a love of mine and Historic cooking
fascinates me. I haven't done much reading yet (I do have *1000 eggs,*
tho), but I am enjoying the language challenge on the little reading I
have done (I like wordsmithing too). My other SCA interests include
Equestrian activities, fiber arts, vintening (experience with mead
only--want to try fruit wine next), and costuming. Oh, and don't forget
camping out in a very nice double bell wedge.

Mundanely, I work for the Marine Corps in Kansas City, Missouri. I have
a tendency to ramble on, so let me know if I start oversharing.

I realize you have probably covered the topic of bread ad nausium, but I
would like to try cooking bread with a wood fire and I thought you might
be able to provide me with good advice and sources of information. It
is my goal to cook on site at our War of the Lilies this June, but I
wanted to try it at home first to make sure I wasn't in over my head. I
have a small Coleman type oven that is supposed to go on a white gas
stove, but I thought there might be a way to use it safely over a wood
fire. I also have a bunch of fire brick sitting in my back yard
gathering bird poop, but I am hesitant to bring that since I go to war
by myself and I am the only one packing all my stuff.

Any suggestions of advice or information sources would be greatly
appreciated. Please feel free to send replies to my personal e-mail
address if this is repeat stuff for the rest of you:

I have learned a great deal from the 142 message of my first post (ok, I
only check my mail every few days). I knew there was a reason I didn't
eat chocolate bars! (Is the extra protein information included on the
wrapper?)

Hope I haven't rambled on too much...

In service to the Dream,

Melisande Saucheverel
