Corwyn, it's actually the sugar in mixed drinks which helps cause the
hangover. Most new drinkers like sweet drinks, whether sweet wines, or rum
and cokes, or whatever. Combine too much sugar with dehydration (another
side effect of alcohol) and you have a hangover- just ask anyone who's had
too much sugared soda pop on a hot day.

Most hangover cures rehydrate you, and add vitamins. The fact that some of
them are exceedingly nasty to taste I suspect is the revenge of the sober
conspiracy ;-)
