Was the lobster live and in the shell, or lobster meat? That would be  a
pretty enormous mass-related variable; a 1 1/4 lb. lobster serves one; 1
1/4 lb. of shelled lobster meat serves maybe 3 or 4, depending on zeal,
appetites, and presentation.

Another consideration was weight loss during cooking (and no, folks, I
don't mean Gunthar lost weight either due to starvation or anticipatory
salivation, but then again...). Most of this stuff, with the possible
exception of the steak, which would depend on the state of doneness,
among other things, loses almost half its mass in cooking, trimming, etc.
   
Now, if I'd been there... ;  )
