Master Adamantius sez:
<<Emme, why is it that whenever we're in a communal kitchen situation (if
in this case a virtual one), it always comes down to Le Menagier de
Paris, who tells us keeping cabbages and turnips in a root cellar until
after the first frost makes them sweeter, or some such?>>

Actually Adamantius, I have to admit a distressing unfamiliarity with
Menagier! This thing about letting brussels sprouts get frosted on the
...vine? stalk? Well whatever it is they grow on, Robert's 20th-c family
leaves 'em on it until after a frost. Or else they say it's almost not
worth eating. Didn't know it duplicated a medieval recommendation! But
that's neat.

Emme

PS to whoever it was looking for white herbs & plants--it would be a
wonderfully heraldic joke to put an edible plant on there and blazon it
argent--saying it's been BLANCHED! ;)
