I'm afraid I've only seen this quoted in Ras' message so far, as I have
lots of digests to read. But perhaps this fairly new file in the
FOOD-SWEETS-DECORATED section of my Florilegium might be some help:

It has some sources for foils as well as some comments on techniques on
applying it and working with it.
