Luveday / Tamara asked a couple of quick questions:
>Is it better to grind your coffee beans at home or at the store? I ground
>mine at home, and I don't think I got the grind fine enough, compared to
>other times I've had Turkish coffee. (Rather lumpy!)
Better to grind on an as needed basis. I keep my beans in the freezer (to
reduce volatilization of the flavor oils and to prevent or reduce rancidity
of all the oils)
I use an electric grinder, but am considering getting some sort of
cosmically cool looking hand grinder for SCA camping events... if i can
only find one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
>What do others use for spice additives? I used some fresh ground cloves and
>real cinnamon (not cassia). Any other suggestions?
Traditionally, in much of the coffee drinking Arab world, cardamom is used;
however, in Yemen it is traditional to use ginger - dried, i think.
