I wondered about that while I was typing it in.  I thought that maybe
it was a euphemism for a spatulate tool, but since it references
"spatula" specifically elsewhere...  Mmmm, hand in boiling syrup.  Tasty.

Yes indeed!  I was actually glad this came up because I was asked to
help with vigil food at Pennsic, and it looked like a good choice (at
least from a menu standpoint, maybe not from an ease-of-preparation
one, especially since I have no candymaking experience).  I'd like to
try with some of the other seeds, though; a little anise goes a long
way. :)
