SC - OT: Newbie in Alaska needs help contacting someone

This was posted to the Rialto today, and since I remembered someone from 
Alaska posting here recently, I thought I'd forward it here and see if we can 
get this poor lady some help.  Sorry for the off-topic post, but she's really 
been having trouble.

i've been trying to join the SCA for over a month now.  I have checked out
the info on the website, but I can't seem to find a "if you're interested in
joining the SCA, click here" button.  So, i've been e-mailing people from my
area, but no one is responding to me.  I would like to find out more info
first hand -- by going to an event or a meeting or just meeting people --
but, since I have been unable to contact anyone, i'm getting pretty
frustrated and am almost ready to give up!

I am new to the area, know about one person in town (and I just met her at
the laundromat last week), and I figgered, HEY!  Why not check out the SCA?
I know people many many moons ago that were in the SCA, and it really
sounded like fun, and I've been in ren faires for a few years now, and I
really should join!  (Incidentally, I love the SCA/Ren Faire threads both
here and on afr.)  :-)


So, here's the skinny -- I live in Fairbanks, Alaska.  And the first time I
checked the site (which was well over  month ago, because i contacted them
before I left CA), there was a "Want more info?  Write to  so-and-so!" link,
so I did.  No answer.

So, I checked again just the other day -- now there's no conact person
(other than the webmistress, but I'm not sure if she's in the SCA or just
the webmistress), but I did contact the University branch by e-mail (i live
about 2 miles from the U).  I know the weekend happened, so that's probably
why I haven't heard anything yet.

Is there a definite person I should contact?  What should I do that I'm not
doing already?  Is there a phone number that I'm overlooking?  What am i
doing wrong?  Should I just give up?  Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.

Please feel free to respond either here, or by e-mail.  It matters not,
really.
