You know...Americans place a great deal of value on "home-made" and "from
scratch" and "like mom used to make".

What if your ancestors were lousy cooks?  What if, like me, you hate hot
dogs, apple pie (except French apple tart with patisserie cream :-)) and
corn on the cob?

:-)  I think the rest of humanity would be better off if some of my
family's secret recipes were consigned to oblivion.  Except my brother's.
He and I, despite a 16-year age gap, are remarkably alike when it comes
to food and cooking and literary interests.
