SC - mundane challenge?

Hello the list!

Cairistiona here - I know it's been a while. We've just extended our stay
here in Belgium for another month, so we don't leave for Israel until the
end of September now.

Anyway, the real part of the message (or is that messuage?)

I've been watching some BBC stuff while I'm here, and one of the series on
at the moment (almost certainly a rerun; everything else is) is called - I
think - 'Rankin challenge'. It's basically a bored chef who goes up and
down the country accepting challenges to cook stuff his challengers haven't,
that he hasn't also. So far I've seen him play with wartime austerity
stuff, campfires and 60s impressions of Jamaican food.

So I thought it could amuse any of our number who have access to challenging
him or some other mundane cook idiot enough to take up the challenge to see
what they make of some of our period recipes - from the translated original,
of course. What would they make of the dreaded CUS%#@KIES, for example?
Just for the amusement value, of course. And we might even find a third
irrefutably correct way of making the damned things :).

Cairistiona
