Criminal? <gasp!> Such a use for such a scotch would be insane! 

OTOH, what is the brand-name, type and age of the scotch as written on the 
label of the bottle? If it is a regular scotch then go for it. Scotch and 
other spirits do not improve once they are bottled so a scotch in a bottle 
for 30 yrs would taste no different from a scotch in a bottle for 1 day.
