Here is the information of Great Western War III. We
are expecting over 5000 people to show up. Prado Park
can hold even more. It is a really beautiful site,
with green grass and a lake. The weather will be
prime California weather; warm days (between 70-80
degrees), and cool nights (in the 50s). This will be
Veteran's Day Weekend.

Mordonna? Cariadoc? Are you planning on coming?
Perhaps if we put our mutual heads together, we can
put together some sort of cooking activity. I know
that the autocrats would love it.

The populace of the Known Worlde is invited to the
third annual Great Western War, an Inter-kingdom
gathering to celebrate the arts of war and of peace!

On the second weekend of November, XXXIV AS, (November
9-14,1999 AD) Prado Regional Park in Chino,
California,
will host the fighters, artisans, archers, and
merchants of the Society at the third encounter of the
Great Western War. (Please note that while this year's
GWW is not on Columbus Day Weekend, future events will
be held at that time.) Come and camp beside the waters
of the lake, stroll the grassy meadows, enjoy the
temperate climate and balmy winds of central Caid.
Fight with people from all over the Society all day,
revel with them all night. Arts and Sciences
activities and classes, displays and competitions will
occur throughout the event. A Grand Court will be held
Saturday night.

There will a millennium-end's worth of war fighting
starting on Wednesday November 10th. Heavy (hard suit)
weapons, Rapier, Schlager, Shinai, combat archery and
siege weapon tournaments and scenarios will be
happening throughout the event. There will be a
multitude of scenarios and skirmishes across a wide
selection of terrain features, including open fields,
rolling hills, forest, and Loch Prado's Castle Hill.
For more information, contact Sir Padraic Fraochdha
Idheach (Paul Ghezzo, padraic at loop.com).

This year we will feature diverse entertainments in
the Arts Encampment. There will be a variety of
classes offered on Friday, Saturday and Sunday,
including classes in the bardic arts. Please check
announcements at the gate and in the Arts encampment
for a complete listing and schedule. Spontaneous
musical "jam sessions" may also erupt there from time
to time--come by and see! On Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
there will be a Laurel's Prize Tourney in the Arts
Encampment. Come and
display your work, or come and view the talents of
others from Caid and other lands of the Known Worlde.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights will see a variety
of bardic activity, including open bardic circles
around the fire. On Saturday night, Master Charles
will host The Penbardd's Circle, and will offer a
prize for the best performance of the evening. Be sure
to look for the location of the fire at the gate, or
visit the Circle of Bards' booth in the merchant area
for more
information. Publications and tapes will be for sale
at the booth, as will bardic services such as
writing-for-hire and performance-for-hire. Once again
the main stage in the food court area will be
available for any interested performers. Be sure to
schedule your time in advance! Mistress Finella Harper
