SC - Making Period "Barrels" for serving at Feasts

Here's an intresting thought for discussion...

Assuming you found a 5-10 gallon food grade plastic container for
drinks/soup/etc that you are also going to use for serving, what are some
suggestions for making the container look period on the outside?
