They do have hearts. It's just that their vision (and consideration for 
submissions) ends at 1450 CE while the rest of the SCA winds itself merrily 
along for another 200 years. This basically means that if your persona is 
post-1450 CE, you can never 'officially' bear the arms that would have been 
appropriate to you persona. This is where  'copyright' is a good thing. :-)
