What a  great writing of your misadventure! I cant offer much assistance on
this, but it has left me thinking.
Any one have any kitchen horror stories?  Similar to what Brighid is posting
about the Melandras?(SP??) 
Don't tell me we all  reconstruct our recipes perfectly  the first time?
When I get home I'll type in my adventure of it, but meanwhile does anyone
have any others to share?
