Our chickens ran about and interbred at will. The resulting genetically 
'healthy' offspring produced eggs which were of all possible egg shapes and 
sizes. They also produced chickens of all shapes, sizes and colors. I would 
suspect that a mindset which excluded 'hybrid' or 'pure' strains of chickens 
would give us the most accurate guesstimation as to size of eggs. Also as I 
posted earlier chicken eggs were not the ONLY source for eggs.
