SC - Cornflour is corn starch

Hiya, just a flying visit between sessions of straining back muscles...

European recipes would, as has been suggested, likely tend to call for
maize meal or maize flour if American maize corn meal were what was
needed. "Corn" in Europe is any grain.

In European practice the term cornflour is applied to cornstarch, which
in Europe is made from wheat or corn. Using ordinary wheat flour or
maize meal or flour will affect the clarity and texture of whatever it's
used in, also its ability to be frozen, if that matters.
