Don´t know about Stefan´s keyboard but ALT+132 works for me.

ALT+129 = ü
ALT+132 = ä
ALT+143 = å
ALT+232 = Þ
ALT+231 = þ

et cetera. How these characters show up on other people´s computer screens
is another matter entirely.
