Not. Agaves and , indeed any succulent plant of which there are many hundreds 
including forms of geranium are termed succulent because of the unique ways 
in which they deal with survival in dry conditions. The term succulent has 
nothing to do with it's relationship to another form of plant outside that 
scenario. Turnips, BTW, are brassicas and are closely related to cabbage. 
They are no way related to any plant in the Amarylis family other than the 
fact that they and Amarylis are both plants. In the same way, agave and 
cactus (a generic term, BTW) are plants. Similarity in growth, habitat or 
form are not indications of closeness of relationship in the plant world.
