Not quite true, Dear Ras.  Agave and Cactii are far more closely related than 
turnips and bananas.  But your point is well taken.  Agave and Cactii are not 
the same family.  For those who do not know, Agave is the family that 
includes Century Plants and Aloe.  Cactii include Sauguaro, Organ Pipe, 
Barrell Cactus, and the ever familiar prickly pear.  They are, however, both 
succulents that thrive under low moisture conditions, and have stickers.  One 
word of advice to potential xeriscape gardeners.  NEVER try to transplant 
some agave members without gloves and some sort of long handled instrument 
for handling.    The best way I've found to remove the !@#$%'s is with a 
vacuum cleaner.
