I have read that Food day article (and have a copy) and it was
very good for the SCA in general. It described the feast "Triumphs of
Oriana" a recreation of an Italian-style feast presented to Queen
Elizabeth I and her court.

The only problem I have had with the article was the last
sentence of the 12th paragraph.

"In those days, before the Consumer Protection Agency,
unscrupulous merchants might use spices to help cover the taste of a
beefsteak that was slightly - or more than slightly - off."

Did we not have a discusion about how this was not true?

BTW: The lady that wrote the article (Amy Martinez Starke) can be
reached at (amystarke at news.oregonian.com).
