Nope, that's alligators living in the sewers. This little bit of wisdom
was, at least until fairly recently, apparently part of the curriculum
in elementary schools in Valdosta, Georgia, including the part about the
Wicked Scientists sitting around cooking up Evil Lies in New York City.
It certainly was taught to my niece there in the mid 80's. It seems,
though, that she had trouble learning this lesson.

Does this qualify as an Urban Legend if its origin is clearly somewhat
rural? (Admittedly rural is a relative concept these days...)
