Jennifer is right that some fast days required more or less abstinance
than others, however advent -is- a moveable feast.  christmas is observed
on the same calendar day , but falls on different days of the week.  the
season of advent begins on the fourth sunday before christmas and lasts
between four and five weeks depending on whether christmas is on a monday
(short season) or a sunday (long season).
