Kind Katharina stated,
In Austria Blaubeere is Schwarzbeere and everybody would look at you with a
strange little smile if you say Blaubeere.
I will admit to being used to those strange little smiles ;-) Thank you
for enlightening me about the Austrian language preference. It explains my
confusion.
And I thank you very much for the Chemistry lesson: BTW chemical
Blausäure is HCN prussic or hydrocyanic acid. I was trying to think of
cyanide, but my brain would not supply the term. Could it have something
to do with the type of blue (I freely admit I am no chemist, please
enlighten me!)
And I apologize for not adding a "Welcome to the list" to my original post.
I very much enjoyed your introduction. Makes me wish I could seriously
consider another trip to Germany this Fall, this time with an extended
visit to Vienna. (I adore the New Years concerts... It was one of 2
programs that Oma and I would both be able to watch and comment on even
though she was in Berlin and I in Colorado. I still watch them and imagine
what she might say.)
