For interested gentles, 

here is the information on a very interesting little book on life around 
1000 AD. The book was featured on BBC Radio Wales' talk show "Livetime".

The book was called "The Year 1,000" and was written by Robert
Lacey...published by Little Brown at £12.99.  It's about what life was like
the last time people faced a new millennium....what people ate, what they
knew of medicine etc.
