Well, when things got a bit poor around here, I would make a good 1 lb loaf ffor
each of us a day for dinner, which was soup. that way we made a small amount of
meat and veggies that would be 1 persons dinner do for 3, with bread doing the
major filling up of the hunger, and oatmeal or cream of wheat[gruel] being the
other meal. I could see a farmer type doing for a meal 1 lb bread, small ale
made of 1 cup of grain for a pint to drink and a soup with another cup of grain
in it per serving, which if you take the weight of unground grain, 2 cups of red
wheat come to just under a pound[well, kitchen scale and a bag of wheat, what
can i say...]
