SC - Bread toppings/breakfast

Hello!  Have been re-reading Peacham's 'Truth of our Times" (crusty 
old tutor writing behaviour manuals in 1620s and 30s for his pupils) 
and he describes at one point an extremely spoilt boy whose 
'breakfast was either a caudle or a manchet spread with almond 
butter'.
