My lord Husband is diabetic.  He fares very well on period food.  In fact
most of it (those without sauces) seem to actually lower his numbers.  He
always remarks after a particularly wonderful feast that he will be
interested in what the blood sugar is at night.  He eats about twice as
much as he would of "regular" food, and eats later.  Goes to prove that
period is healthy.
