Thorbjorn,  check your local library for a book called _Blue Corn and
Chocolate_.  I don't remember the author's name, but the theme is New
World foods that went to the Old World, and came back, changed.  She
throws handfuls of peppers into every recipe, but aside from that, it's a
fun book to read.  It's not SCA oriented, or documented, but all learning
is grist for the mill.


Elinor Fettiplace's Cook Book has a recipe that is for baked sweet
potatoes, with rose water, orange juice and grated peel, and brown sugar
and butter.  You could cook some of the gourd recipes with American
squash, and say, "Hey, it works with these, too!"  And turkey, of
course....
