I knew there was fish in there, somewhere.  Well then, what are the
chances that Cairistiona's breakfast pottage was a grain with the fish in
it?  Curry, of course, wouldn't show up until the era of the Raj, but
since British kedgeree is so different, perhaps they were building on
'what Mum used to make'.
