I don't suppose using the title in French, "Le Me[s]nagier de Paris"
(try both spellings) would help?

The recent book Cindy is referring to, the one without [many] food
recipes, is probably "The Medieval Home Companion", published in the
early 90's. I don't recall the editor's/author's name; I have a copy
lying around somewhere, but don't see it at the moment.
