Since Miz Fannie is the linear descendant (in a professional and
culinary sense) of Lydia Childs, author of "The American Frugal
Housewife" (1833?), which is full of lines like, "three ounces of butter
is more than sufficient for a working man's cake", and therefore
sounding remarkably like Markham at times, this is not too surprising.
