"Stranger in a Strange Land" was Robert Anson Heinlein's biggest selling 
book.  A small part of it's popularity was from the notoriety it obtained 
from the Manson family, who claimed that it had inspired their cult.  I think 
it stands alone as an excellent book, notwithstanding it's notoriety.
