We have the same situation going on in the US. I've just learned to think in
two sets of measurements- pounds and cups when I'm doing grocery shopping,
grams and liters when I'm doing science, and I'm finding that it's like
thinking in two different languages- I understand both meanings, but I have
to think a bit to translate.

We now sell our soft drinks in 2 l bottles, and our wine and liquor in 750
ml or 1.5 l botlles, but our beer comes in quarts or fluid ounces. All our
cars have speedometers marked in km as well as miles, but our odometers and
road signs are all in miles. I buy groceries and tobacco and steel by the
pound, but unlawful drugs are generally available by any mix of the two
systems- and I guarantee THOSE merchants aren't trying to conform to
government standards ;-)

It's an odd mix. Maybe our great grandkids will have a handle on it.

The World's Need

So many Gods, so many creeds,
So many paths that wind and wind,
When just the art of being kind
Is all this sad world needs.
