Red wine is the appropriate choice  for tuna. Any Portuguese house wine would 
be appropriate just as the more rustic wines of Italy rather than the more 
subtle proprietary wines tend to stand up better to the spicy country dishes 
of Italy.

Whoever said that wine was always sweet in period is in error. Many wines 
from Europe that are currently available today are made from the exact same 
grape varieties in the exact manner they were in the middle ages. In fact 
many chateau and other wine houses have been producing wines since the middle 
ages, for example Est! Est! Est! from Italy,
