As I recall we left it up to the list members to say what they liked or
disliked about each entry, and mostly they asked questions and discussed
particular choices made by each entrant. Very informal and really not
about winning or losing, so judging didn't have to have any universal
standard. The challenge was kind of a way to pit each entrant against
the circumstances and his/her own standards, not against each other. 

The challenge did have certain stated rules, though, which had to be
followed. Kinda like "Ready, Set, Cook!", or the shopping basket
practical exams most cooking schools put you through.
