The Romans also introduced rabbits to England. The rabbits don't seem
to have survived that long after the Romans left. Do we have any evidence
of whether the almond trees did?

I think another reason that imported almonds might have been used over
homegrown walnuts might have been *because* they were imported. They might
have been a status symbol. Afterall, this appears to have been the case with
imported spices vs. homegrown herbs such as garlic.

English walnuts might have been cheaper, but walnut milk? Bleach.
