Hello! I was wondering if anyone out there had a legible copy of the
Epistle to Plat's Delightes for Ladies? If so, what is the missing word
below?
I teach both fruites and flowers to preerue,
And candie them, o Nutmegs, Cloues, and Mace:
To make both marchpane pate, and ugred plate,
And cat the ame in formes of weetest grace,
Each bird and [ ??? ], so moulded from the life,
And after cat in weet compounds of Arte,
As if the flesh and forme which Nature gaue,
Did till remaine in euery lim and part.
When crytall frot hath nipt the tender grape,
And cleane conum'd the fruits of euerie vine,
Yet heere behold the cluters freh and faire,
Fed from the branch, or hanging on the line,
The Wallnut mall nut, and the Chenut weet,
Whoe ugred kernels loe their pleaing tate,
Are heere from yeere to yeere preerued meet,
And made by arte with trongest fruits to late
Th' artichoke, and th' Apple of uch trength,
The Quince, Pomgranate, with the Barberie,
No ugar vs'd, yet colour, tate and mell,
Are heere maintain'd and kept mot naturally.
Regards,
Cindy
