SC - Dry Site Issues

Hello all, I will be doing the feast for Northern Lights A&S on March
21. Our
site is a school, so dry. We have encountered problems before with a
school
when alcohol was used in cooking part of the feast. I have tried to
select
recipes that avoid the use of any, but there are some sticky points. I
can use
nonalcoholic wines and beers if need be, but does anyone have any
experience
using these in period recipes?
Thank you,
Aelfwyn

Other than the obvious "precook" option, there are a couple things you
might do to alleviate the site authorities.

1)A week or so before the event, go buy a bottle of Ocean Spray grape
juice. Drink it, then put the wine in the grape juice bottle (white
grape juice for white wine, red for red, of course...) and take the wine
to the event in the grape juice jar. Get apple juice to put beer in.

2)If they're REALLY sticky about it and you're REALLY worried, then boil
the wine and/or beer at home for 10-20 minutes. In that time, all the
alcohol should have evaporated, but will still keep the flavor of the
given spirit. Let it cool, and pour it into the grape juice/apple juice
jar (see #1).

One other aside....non-alcoholic beer has alcohol in it....a VERY SMALL
AMOUNT but it's there, so if they're cool with non-al beer, they should
have no problem with #2.

Regards, Ingus
