Hello! I was wondering if anyone out there had a legible copy of the
Epistle to Plat's Delightes for Ladies? If so, what is the missing word
below?

I teach both fruites and flowers to pre†erue,
And candie them, †o Nutmegs, Cloues, and Mace:
To make both marchpane pa†te, and †ugred plate,
And ca†t the †ame in formes of †weetest grace,
Each bird and [ ??? ], so moulded from the life,
And after ca†t in †weet compounds of Arte,
As if the flesh and forme which Nature gaue,
Did †till remaine in euery lim and part.
When cry†tall fro†t hath nipt the tender grape,
And cleane con†um'd the fruits of euerie vine,
Yet heere behold the clu†ters fre†h and faire,
Fed from the branch, or hanging on the line,
The Wallnut †mall nut, and the Che†nut †weet,
Who†e †ugred kernels lo†e their plea†ing ta†te,
Are heere from yeere to yeere pre†erued meet,
And made by arte with †trongest fruits to la†te
Th' artichoke, and th' Apple of †uch †trength,
The Quince, Pomgranate, with the Barberie,
No †ugar vs'd, yet colour, ta†te and †mell,
Are heere maintain'd and kept mo†t naturally.

Regards,

Cindy
