Why, is it pronounced "throatwarbler-mangrove" or "luxury-yacht"?

I understood it to be the Scots equivalent form of Kathleen, itself a
diminutive of Catherine of Katherine, or more directly Kate, and that it
was pronounced KATE-lin. Do you have evidence that suggests otherwise?

The worst in the Celtic repertoire that I've encountered are definitely
the names of the seasonal festivals, particularly Bell-Tane and Sam-Hane.

Me, I just have a minor problem with spelling Philip with two L's.
