Especially little guys like Cornish Hens: they thaw very quickly as long
as they're not massed togther in one huge lump of ice, and because
they're small, their surface-area-to-mass ratio makes them even more
susceptible to salmonella and other pathogenic bacteria than larger
birds and hunks of meat.
