Here I am, surfing at work (I know it's wrong, but I'm bored with work!).

Anyway, I ran across this Food Museum. I don't know if anyone on the
Cooks List has mentioned it, or how reliable it is (I thought tomatoes
were Old World but considered poisonous?) but it's interesting. They
celebrate New World foods, working with the same foods and history from
an opposite perspective.

The Food Museum http://www.swcp.com/hughes/food2.htm

Foods originating hemisphere:

Some off the cuff impressions:

"Foods the Americas contributed to the world, including corn, the potato,
beans, squash, chocolate, tomatoes, avocados, pineapples, blueberries and
peppers, among others. "

Blueberries? I thought the conclusion on the period blue sauce was it
used blueberries? Did I misunderstand?

"Sixty percent of what the world now eats originated in the Americas."

No wonder it's hard to keep them out of SCA feasts!

Gotta go......Terri
